THE EMPRESS' NEW JEWELS
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Thank you for considering submitting to the Empress (no need to get down on your knees though!) Presently the site is new, but I very much hope that in the future guests' poems will make up a large proportion of the site and that poets will feel comfortable commenting on each others' work in the feedback forum.
Structure: I am willing to consider poems of any structure, style, or length . I am interested in rhyming and non-rhyming poetry. In the case of Haikus, I would appreciate submissions that stick to the accepted 5, 7, 5 syllable pattern. It's more of a challenge that way, anyway!
Content: I am similarly open-minded in this respect. I have absoloutely no problem with erotic poetry, quite the contrary, actually. (Though I must draw the line at anything illegal or that could be considered as degrading.)
I do not guarantee to publish every
poem submitted. If you don't get to see your poem here, please
don't be put off trying again or submitting to another site.
Before you submit a new poem, I'd suggest that you sit on it for
at least a week or two then go back and look at it afresh. It's
amazing how effective that can be in detecting clumsy imagery or
overuse of words! Some of my poems here have been through
numerous incarnations and I'm still not content. It is very hard
to know when to leave apoem alone! I'd be more than happy to
offer you my opinions on anything you've written, whether or not
you feel like submitting publicly or not.
Payment for submissions? You are joking, right?
Thanks for listening! I hope to hear from you soon! Go on submit -you know you want to!
With love, life, laughter and language, Caroline x
